POKOTABI / Kafa Bunna
カファブンナ
Just steps from Roppongi Station, Kafa Bunna serves meticulously hand-poured nel-drip coffee—from the Latin blend to Viennese coffee and chilled au lait glacé—in a calm, music-filled kissaten setting.
01 / ABOUT THE PLACE
Tucked just off Roppongi's main thoroughfares on the 2nd floor of an unassuming building, Kafa Bunna welcomes guests with gentle background music and a quiet respite far removed from the city's bustle. This pure kissaten specializes in individual cups of coffee extracted using the nel-drip method, featuring an intimate arrangement of counter and table seating.
A natural place to start is Latin, one of the house blend offerings. Described as delivering rich, full-bodied bitterness, this dark roast balances robust roasty notes with a mellow depth and subtle sweetness, resolving into a crisp, clean finish. The selection of house blends also includes African, known for its pleasant, lively acidity, and Camel, which offers a gentle, soft bitterness, inviting diners to compare profiles according to preference and mood.
Viennese coffee, topped with fresh cream whisked to order, is another distinctive draw. For cold beverages, choices include the richly concentrated au lait glacé and Queen of Amber, prized for its eye-catching layered presentation in the glass. Beyond coffee, black tea and cocoa are on offer, making the quiet setting accessible to anyone looking to savor an unhurried cafe hour.
With the longtime proprietor working behind the counter to brew every cup by hand, drinks can take a little time to arrive, but that slow pace forms part of the traditional coffeehouse charm. Payment is cash only, so it is wise to have notes and coins ready before heading over.
